Hi Mom!!!

Thank you for the email description of Joa’s arrival - I hadn’t quite grasped just _how_ quickly he came when we spoke on the phone! Wow! I’m sure you’re still walking on air. I hope Andey is healing and feeling great, and that Joa is happy and doing well. We would love to come meet him in person, and have looked at our schedule with that in mind…

Okay, I’m sure I’m keeping you from a diaper change or something, so

you go cuddle that little boy, and Andey too -

Love,
C

Lisa,

Awesome, beautiful beautiful wondrous, miraculous story. We are so eager to meet the little prince and to share in your glow and your joy!

Got your phone message. Stay home until Wednesday unless you feel you need a break. But I doubt you will. This is one of life's most amazing gifts and times. Enjoy!!!!!

I printed out your message for Diane. She is excited for you, too,

Lisa and Andey,

CONGRATULATIONS! You two have been on my mind lately, knowing it was about time. I'm so happy for all of you - Prince Joachim Thomas Kynvi couldn't be luckier to have the two of you for parents. I'm glad it went well and quickly. My labor and delivery was almost identical to that - even to the time of day.

I know you'll take lots of time together to get to know each other. I remember how wise Dustin looked in those first days - and how attentive as though he wanted to absorb the people around him.

Will write later. Thanks for sharing the story of Joa's birth. And again, many congratulations.

Lots of love,
Kay

Lisa (Andey & Joa),

Welcome to the world of timelessness & parenthood, it passes by the moment for what can seem like eternity. Hearty and full blessings to you all. Enjoy this precious time, walking out of the house without him will be difficult but there will be a time when Lisa (& Andey) individually and a couple will want some adult only time in the weeks to come, that's ok too. For now enjoy the family bed, the quiet and not so quiet hours of the night and nibble on those tiny toes for this "crotchety old instructor". A new song, "Joa"....

Hello Lisa, Andey and Joa---How do you pronounce Joa??? It is so unique.

Sounds like a whole lot of gazing and perfection going on over your way! I'm glad I will get to witness it in the flesh. Just your description Lisa made all kinds of aaahhs come gushing out. Congratulations to you Lisa and Andey for your loving commitment and to Joa for choosing some pretty terrific beings for moms. Hugs all around.

Love Rikki

Dear Andey and Lisa! 1998-08-28 13:19

A few minutes ago we received the note - and Lisa's e-mail - from the happy and proud grandmother in Forest Grove about the birth of little wonderful Joachim. Gongratulation!! On his very first weekday we wish him and both of you a brilliant future. Enjoy him during every moment, before you realize, he will be about 2 metres tall!!

Many warm greetings from Inge and Holger, Denmark

Dear dear Lisa, Andey and Joa -

I JUST returned from Bangladesh, slept a number of very needed hours, and now find myself wide awake at 2 am. What better to do than read my 26 messages. So what do I find? One of the most beautifully written births stories I have read in many moons! Thank you so much, Lisa, for sharing the details so carefully and poetically. I almost felt as if I were there. And Andey - what a blessing that your labor turned out to be brief and without complication! You will note that I did not say "easy" - those very short labors are also so very intense!! But the body heals, and the spirit rejoices! Thanks, too, for the tip on pronunciation of Joa. He was just a perfect size for his trip into this world, it seems to me! I think you both are to be commended for keeping a level head during the late pregnancy crises over his well-being.

I shall call soon (when the dust settles here just a bit). Do enjoy these early days - they are sometimes baffling and not always easy, but so very precious.

You're right my friend, life doesn't get any better than that, unless of course you count the times when they're older an come to you out of the blue, put their arms around you and say, "Mom, I love you."

Congratulations to all and welcome to Joa. Can't wait to talk to you in person. In the meantime, enjoy these precious days which will never happen again (no matter how many kids you have, this first time only happens once!).

Lots of love. Tina

Hey, Hey, Hey!

Congratulations, you guys! Such great news, it makes us very happy. I encourage you to relish these early days -- they are both fleeting and important. The other-worldly infant in your arms now is watching your every move to learn how this world works. Stand tall! Your version of how it works is so beautiful!

Dear Lisa,

What absolutely, marvelous, wonderful news. I am thrilled for you and Andey, and think Joa is such a smart and lucky boy to have arranged for you to be his parents.

I'm reminded by the absolute awe I felt at my son's birth way back in '82. He changed my life for the better absolutely. In fact, this morning I just came across the speech I made to him at his Bar Mitzvah, and think I'll forward it along. You'll know what I mean.

It has been too long since I've seen you, but you're in my heart. You don't need any luck to be good parents, you've done the hard work to learn that, so I'll just send Blessings, blessings, abundant blessings.

Love - Judith

~~~~~~~~~~~~
At your birth, as I held you in my arms for the first time, you were covered in angel dust. And I felt in that moment the world of possibility that you were. You brought the presence of spirit and wonder back into my life at a time when I had become somewhat alienated from God. My job was to protect and guide you, not to try to make you into anybody. I loved you so much, and I looked forward to meeting the man you would become.
Clearly, I had a lot to look forward to.
You have set the stage for knowing who you are by making a commitment to studying where you come from. And how you are in the world, your willingness to live Torah, and be a good person, affects the lives of others all the time. When we met with Rabbi Goldfinger a few days ago she said, "never underestimate the power of words to change the world," and then she said that you would have the opportunity, in leading the service here, to make an impression and change lives.
There's a wonderful thing about being your mom. Wherever I go people are always telling me what a fine person you are - from your teachers who make a point of saying what a pleasure it is to have you in their class, to the parents of your friends, to all of my friends. You are compassionate, responsible, considerate, respectful, helpful, playful, and fun to be with.
Truly your friendship is a blessing to all who know you. Your Dad and I are so proud of you. In my life you are a blessing not only for who you are, but for what your life has helped me become. I love you so much. Congratulations, honey.
